Abstract [en] : Blast furnace slag from SSAB Merox has been used as bed material in two waste-fired 12 MWth BFB-boilers at Säverstaverket in Bollnäs. The results are positive in some aspects and negative in other aspects but the overall conclusion is that blast furnace slag can replace silica sand as bed material with no changes of the boiler conditions. The boiler performance has been improved with the blast furnace slag but boiler failure can and has occurred during the trials.
