Abstract : A wetting transition in the three-component system water-hexadecane-C 6E2, where C6E2 denotes the surfactant C6H13 OC2H42 OH, is found to occur in the three-phase region at the temperature T w = 49.1±0.1°C. Above Tw, the middle surfactant-rich phase wets the interface between the excess water and the excess oil phases, while below Tw it does not.

Keywords : surface phase transformations wetting
