Abstract : Lasers are used to probe the transient species which exist as reagents are transformed into products in a chemical reaction. Molecular beams of reagents K and NaCl are crossed within the cavity of a cw dye laser and photons absorbed by the transient species are used to open the chemiluminescent channel to KCl and Na*.
