Abstract: We study the FCNC $B s \to \phi \gamma, \phi u \bar u$ and $\Lambda b \to\Lambda \gamma, \Lambda u \bar u$ transitions in the Standard Model and ina scenario with a single Universal Extra Dimension. In particular, we focus onthe present knowledge of the hadronic uncertainties and on possibleimprovements. We discuss how the measurements of these modes can be used toconstrain the new parameter involved in the extra dimensional scenario, theradius $R$ of the extra dimension, completing the information available fromB-factories. The rates of these $b \to s$ induced decays are within the reachof new experiments, such as LHCb.
