Abstract : The thermodynamic properties of liquid metal salt mixtures are studied with the help of a model in which the metallic and halogenic constituents interact with each other via an electronically screened Coulomb potential. It is shown that the phase separation of liquid metal salt mixtures is a direct consequence of the metal-nonmetal transition that occurs in these systems as a function of concentration.
