Abstract: We found that the length of the Fermi arc decreases with increasingout-of-plane disorder by performing angle resolved photoemission spectroscopyARPES measurements in the superconducting state of optimally doped R=La andEu samples of Bi2Sr2and#8722;xRxCuOy. Since out-of-plane disorder stabilizes theantinodal pseudogap as was shown in our previous study of the normal state, thepresent results indicate that this antinodal pseudogap persists into thesuperconducting state and decreases the Fermi arc length. We think that theshrinkage of the Fermi arc reduces the superfluid density, which explains thelarge suppression of the superconducting transition temperature whenout-of-plane disorder is increased.
