Abstract : The magnetocrystalline anisotropy of the 3d sublattice in most of the intermetallics with rare-earth elements turns out to be of different sign for the iron and cobalt compounds. Besides these different signs the composition dependence of the 3d anisotropy is found to be anomalous in a number of pseudobinary and pseudoternary series : Y Co, Fe5, Y2 Co, Fe17, YCo, Fe3, Y Co, Fe4 B, Lu Co, Fe4B and Y2 Co, Fel4 B. By employing the model of the individual site anisotropy, the properties of the 3d sublattice can reasonably well be described.
