Abstract : In very anisotropic materials the transport properties of a single crystal may be equivalent to those of a long thin bar. In this geometry we show that an extension of the Montgomery method 1 allows a detailed discussion of the experimental results. It is then possible to establish the correct value of the anisotropy of the resistivity tensor. The method is used to show that in La2CuO4+0.018, the conductivity is activated in the Cu-O planes while it results from variable range hopping process perpendicular to the planes as previously established.
