Abstract : The nonrelativistic matrix element and cross section of the direct radiative recombination for H-like atoms are calculated by considering the retardation corrections up to the second order in αZ. These corrections are evaluated using recursion which lead to fast and accurate calculations of the cross sections. Comparisons between our results and the exact relativistic ones point out the importance of the retardation effects especially for the angular distribution of the emitted photon. The method of approximation developed in this work allows us to express the corrected cross sections by elementary functions of the incoming electron energy.
