During pregnancy, a cellular immunosuppressantstatus is produced. It is characterized by anti-inflammatory cellular responsesthat allow embryonic implantation. The reversal of these changes during thepostpartum period may result in overt clinical manifestations of otherwise quiescentor latent infections. We present an Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome ARDScase after a caesarean section related to the Immune ReconstitutionInflammatory Syndrome IRIS in a Guinean black woman. The patient was treatedwith large doses of corticosteroids showing a great clinical and radiologicalimprovement.
