Busbar differential relaying method based on combinedamplitude and phase information of high frequency transient currents is putforward in this paper for the speed and reliability problems of busbarprotection based on fundamental frequency. Under the analysis of features ofbus high frequency differential currents, complex wavelet analysis is used toextract the amplitude and phase features of 1-4 period high frequencydifferential currents, and amplitude and phase information are used to form thepolar coordinates. Bus fault is identified intuitively and precisely accordingto polar locus differences. This polar coordinates represented busbardifferential protection scheme based on high frequency transient signals cannot only avoid TA saturation, realizing quick protection, lots of PSCAD-EMTDCsimulations also show that this busbar differential protection scheme workswell under different fault conditions.
