Abstract: Spin-lattice relaxation rate $T 1^{-1}$ of $^1$H-NMR has been measured inCH$ 3$$ 2$CHNH$ 3$CuCl$ x$Br$ {1-x}$$ 3$ with $x=0.88$, which has beenreported to be gapped system with singlet ground state from the previousmacroscopic magnetization and specific heat measurements, in order toinvestigate the bond randomness effect microscopically in the gapped compositeHaldane system CH$ 3$$ 2$CHNH$ 3$CuCl$ 3$. It was found that the spin-latticerelaxation rate $T 1^{-1}$ in the present system includes both fast and slowrelaxation parts indicative of the gapless magnetic ground state and the gappedsinglet ground state, respectively. We discuss the obtained results with theprevious macroscopic magnetization and specific heat measurements together withthe microscopic $\mu$SR experiments.
