We provide a survey of Information Technology based resources and methods that can be employed to this end. Inparticular, we discuss i sources of data and information available on the World Wide Web and the technologies that make them accessible and interoperable, ii the methods, collectively falling under the umbrella term of Data Mining, which allow us to discover new useful knowledge from the available facts and integrate expert knowledge in the process.
