Abstract: The purpose of this thesis is to investigate theuse of quantitative methods in taxonomy. Comparisons aremade between, several quantitative methods and the relativemertis of these and the kinds of taxononomic informationthey produce are examined. To provide data on which tobase those comparisons, measurements were made on theskulls of 20 hominoids and on the skeletons of 64 rodents
