Abstract: The aim of this paper is to study the canonical filtration L l of anirreducible finite dimensional slV-module L using the universal envelopingalgebra UslV and the annihilator ideal annv of a highest weight vector vin L. We give a basis for L l and calculate the dimension of L l as a functionof l. This is done in terms of the universal enveloping algebra of thenilpotent radical of an opposite parabolic sub algebra of the stabilizer Liealgebra of a flag V * in V with respect to a choice of roots for slV.
