(2016)ERCOFTAC BULLETIN.106.p.60-65 Mark abstract The functioning of a recently developed algebraic model for laminar to turbulent boundary layer transition under high free-stream turbulence is illustrated. The model uses only local variables and is tuned for turbomachinery flows. The transition model is combined with the newest k-omega RANS turbulence model by Wilcox. It takes into account two effects in an attached pre-transitional boundary layer: damping of short-wavelength disturbances induced by the free stream and breakdown of the near-wall perturbed flow with generation of fine-scale turbulence.
