Illegal drugs have enormous significance forworld trade, consumer safety, and the social andnatural environment. Thus, drug policy is one ofthe principal policy choices society faces as thenew century approaches. Numerous skirmishesin the War on Drugs are being fought on an agriculturalbattlefield. But the combat strategies forthese skirmishes lack tactical support from thescientific agricultural establishment even thoughagriculture's unique perspective could contributenew weapons and maneuvers with whichthe war could be pursued.
