To improve the understanding of territorial competitiveness at the region al level, the EuropeanCommission has developed the Regional Competitiveness Index. RCI shows the strengths and weaknessesof each of the EU NUTS 2 regions. The definition of regional competitiveness underpinning the RCI maytherefore be summarized as “the ability to offer an attractive and sustainable environment for firms andresidents to live and work”. The most competitive regions in Poland, as measured by the RCI, are Mazowieckieprovince and Śląskie province. The same result was observed in infrastructure pillar.
