The aim of the study was to determine the level and productivity changes in the food industry against thebackground of manufacturing in Poland in the years 1995-2012. It used a Cobb-Douglas production andproductivity indicators. It was found that the pace of change of productivity in the food industry was slightlyworse compared to manufacturing. Throughout the reporting period, labour productivity in manufacturinggrew by 97.8% (average 4.1%), while in the food industry with 58.0% (average 2.7%). While capitalproductivity in manufacturing has decreased by 9.2%, (average 0.6%) and the food industry with 16.5%(average 1.1%).
