They remark how fetal monitoring –using noninvasive imaging– has been growing up over the last thirty years, and how thanks to these studies, future problems were detected and prevented.
This paper presents a software which, by ultrasound imaging, can detect the nuchal translucency area, which is key for the detection of trisomy 21 or Down syndrome.
This software implements techniques of morphological operations and Watershed transformation, and includes the development of a web platform that allows remote access to this software. La presente edición inicia con Plataforma para el procesamiento de imágenes médicas de ultrasonido obstétrico habilitada en la nube, trabajo realizado por investigadores de la Universidad de Pamplona (Colombia), quienes destacan cómo el monitoreo fetal, realizado a partir del uso de imágenes no invasivas, ha crecido durante los últimos treinta años, y cómo gracias a ello ha sido posible detectar y prevenir problemas futuros.
Este artículo presenta un software que, utilizando imágenes de ultrasonido, pues detectar la zona de translucencia nucal, un área clave para la detección temprana de la trisomía del cromosoma 21 (causante del síndrome de Down).
